Refurbishment of facilities at York station continues at a rapid pace.

Just a week after opening its new shop on York Gin’s Concourse, Pret a Manger has revealed plans to open a sandwich shop there.

It wants to move to a recently formed retail unit that was formerly a ticket office. The big one is already occupied by Sainsbury’s.

As well as a general fit for the unit, the Phantom is seeking permission to plan exterior seating between both the interior and exterior stations.

“The interior appearance will be transformed through the bespoke pret fit of this site. The exterior appearance will undergo very limited changes, with works related to large-scale refurbishment and resale, installing new signage at the unit,” state the plan documents.

“Pret’s occupation of the site will ensure the accessibility of the site for members of the public allowing greater visibility and exposure of this building.”
