Adam Driver praises co-stars Penélope Cruz and Shailene Woodley as “really great actors” in upcoming film, “Ferrari.” The trio formed a bond while filming the movie in which Driver stars as car creator and racing legend Enzo Ferrari, Woodley takes on the role of Ferrari’s mistress, Lina Lardi, and Cruz plays his wife, Laura Ferrari. Driver spoke with ET’s Cassie DiLaura about the immediate respect he felt while working with both actresses, and the strength of the script.

Cruz and Woodley never filmed a scene together in director Michael Mann’s upcoming film. They only saw each other at the table read and when Cruz filmed her scene with the paparazzi. Cruz expressed her admiration for Woodley’s work and noted that not sharing any scenes with her was disappointing, while Driver jokingly said it was “exhausting” to work with Cruz.

For Woodley, being part of this project was a life-altering experience, and she spoke to the dedication and devotion of director Michael Mann, who spent two decades on this film. Cruz explained that the transformation for her character was more about understanding the character’s inner world, rather than just physical appearance.

Similarly, Driver emphasized absorbing a lot of information about his characters and leaving no stone unturned, dealing with the technical part of using prosthetics and makeup to perfect his role. “Ferrari” hits theaters Christmas Day.
