Spurs Women’s Manager Vows to Stick to Attacking Style Despite Heavy Defeats

Tottenham Hotspur Women’s manager, Robert Vilahamn, has reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining an attacking approach despite suffering back-to-back heavy defeats in the Women’s Super League. Vilahamn’s side endured a 7-0 thrashing by Manchester City followed by a 4-0 loss to Manchester United. They now face a challenging fixture against high-flying Arsenal in the north London derby. This comes just three days after losing to the same opponents in the Continental Tyres League Cup.

The upcoming match poses a tough challenge for Tottenham, as they have failed to secure a victory in their last 11 encounters against Arsenal. The Gunners are currently behind WSL leaders Chelsea on goal difference, having secured a 4-1 victory over the Blues last week.

In preparation for the daunting task ahead, Vilahamn emphasized the importance of maintaining their style of play. “It’s always tricky when you want to be a team that dictates the game and want to show that we have the ball, when you play against one of the top teams in the world,” Vilahamn stated ahead of the highly anticipated clash, which will be held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. “But when we come to our stadium we want to make sure we try to do it. I’m not going to go there and just try to have a low block and hope that we can counter-attack. The main thing is for me to show the fans who come that this team is all about playing the way we want to do it.”

On the other hand, Arsenal’s boss, Jonas Eidevall, likened the quick succession of matches against the same opposition to a “longer half-time break where you can actually work on things on the training ground.” He expressed the team’s determination to end the year on a high note. “The next game is our most important game and that means 100 per cent of our preparation and focus goes into this game. We are really determined and motivated and trying to end this year on as high a level as possible and hopefully after that can go to a well-deserved Christmas break.”

As the two rivals gear up for the highly anticipated clash, all eyes will be on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to see whether Vilahamn’s attacking approach can turn the tide in their favor or if Arsenal will once again emerge victorious. The stakes are high, and both teams are eager to secure a positive result in what promises to be an electrifying encounter.
