The accident took place in Hudspeth County when another car traveling eastbound on U.S. 62 attempted to pass Lynch, who was traveling in the opposite direction. The two vehicles collided, and Lynch was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other car was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Lynch was a founding member of The Chicks, the band that became a country staple in the 1990s. She was an integral part of the group’s early days, with an infectious energy and sense of humor that helped shape their success.
