In to the whirlwind of gossip and speculation that has consumed 2023, the news about Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet, power couple that nobody saw coming, and occupied the day-to-day conversations of everyone interested in pop culture.

After months of cryptic Instagram posts, increasingly convincing rumors, and playful paparazzi photographs, these two celebrities stopped playing coy and arrived at Beyonce’s unforgettable Renaissance tour as a couple, forgetting for a moment that they are among the most famous people on the planet. The Beyhive likely still takes issue with that.

When Timothee Chalamet decided to sit down with MTV for an interview captured on December 18, he sneaked in a quip about Beyonce’s world tour in front of a curious MTV correspondent. Asked about the best concert of 2023, the heartthrob claimed he hadn’t attended any.

This is, as it turns out, not accurate, as the interviewer was quick to remind him. In one of the most memorable social nights of the year, these two were present at the concert of the decade. And they were not alone, in the midst of it all, they were caught relishing in a rather public display of affection, while the audience enjoyed the concert. Beyhive will likely come for them.

In an earlier interview with MTV, as seen in their conversation, he snuck in a reference to Beyonce’s concert about the fact that it was hard to be present in the moment. It quickly became clear why Chalamet struggled to remember attending when you remember the silly amounts of that concert that involved Kylie Jenner.

Beyonce’s concerts typically attract the who’s who of young Hollywood, but this time around, the attractions happening on stage were nearly outnumbered by the attractions unfolding in the audience as Timothee and Kylie nearly took the spotlight off Beyonce as they kissed in the background.

The makeout session was the highlight of that show as Timothee half-heartedly acknowledged it. On the bright side, stage performances by celebrities are often little more than main events for those in attendance to be seen.

Timmy may not have come across as the biggest Beyonce fan, but he shared some general thoughts on her songs during the interview. “That Beyonce show, I was actually surprised,” Timmy admitted. “I’m not Beyhive level but I thought I knew way more. She didn’t do ‘Halo.’ She didn’t do ‘Single Ladies.'”

Amidst all of the criticism being directed at him, people should remember that not every musician is for everyone, and that Chalamet’s comment does not render him bitter or disrespectful.

It’s reassuring to know that ‘it’s ok to be a casual fan of something.’ Whether or not he’ll be listening to her next concert, it’s clear that he was dedicated to channeling his energies elsewhere during the last one. Her legion of fans isn’t sure whether or not to consider him a fan.

Even those who find Timothee Chalamet’s shockingly reasoned opinions a little baffling should remember, we can’t all be fan,…so fret not.
