One of the driving forces behind Melbourne’s Latin music, Vanessa Estrada has released a new single and video for ‘Canción de Despedida’ (Farewell Song).
Estrada uses the Chilean folk style ‘cueca’ and the Argentine ‘chacarera’, two aspects of chacarra folk music styles that are prominent in the southern regions of South America and bear a rural resemblance to the cosmopolitan associations of tango.
She combines these with gentle jazz, electronic and rock influences – she lists some of her idols as Violet Parra, Pascuala Ilabaca and Elizabeth Morris – to create a unique depiction of her songs that evoke heartbreak and goodbyes. deal with the pain.

‘Canción de Despidida’ further enhances his reputation as an outstanding storyteller in the Melbourne music scene. The single went live across all streaming platforms today and the associated music video – featuring a huge production team – will premiere on December 28. video was sSupported by Multicultural Art Victoria as part of their Forward Curve commissions.
Estrada would then delight Melbourne audiences with a performance and video launch at Open Studios on the same date, as well as a six-piece band with the backing of Liana Perillo and Elizabeth Obando, where she would perform many of her most recent works.
