A Queensland man has been charged with murder after a woman died two days after she was allegedly beaten and strangled.
Mary Benedito, 25, died on Monday night following the incident at the Gold Coast unit on Saturday.
Benedito was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries allegedly by 34-year-old Reo Te Vetu Marma Marsh.
Marsh reportedly exited the Southport unit with their 11-month-old child before being arrested in the Brisbane suburb of Oxley at around 12.30 pm on Sunday.
The child was safe and well located.
Logan’s Marsh was initially charged with grievous bodily harm and strangulation.
On Tuesday, his charge was converted to murder.
Benedito’s family has told 7NEWS they are “absolutely heartbroken” about his death.
A crowdfunding page has been set up to support the family.
The man is expected to appear in Southport Court in January.
