A military spokesman says a “joint air and artillery raid” targeted the Allied Democratic Forces armed group.

The Ugandan military has said it conducted joint air and artillery raids with forces of the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) armed group.

“This morning, we, along with our Congolese allies, launched joint air and artillery strikes against ADF camps,” a spokesman for the Uganda People’s Defense Force said in a Twitter post on Tuesday.

Ugandan authorities have blamed the ADF for the deadly suicide bombings in the capital Kampala earlier this month. The armed group has been accused of carrying out dozens of attacks in eastern DRC.

There was no immediate comment from Congolese officials.
